Henry Mills had a tough life growing up, at least by his standards. He had grown up never wanting for anything, his mother had made sure he had everything that he could ever need or want, except the one thing that he craved more than anything else in the world…. Unconditional love. He knew that on some level his mom loved him, but now, knowing what he knows, he can understand Regina’s motivations a little bit.
He was adopted, that phrase played in a loop through his head, like a broken record, or one that wouldn’t stop skipping. Henry knew something was up with Regina…. Gosh, Regina that sounded so weird, even though she was mean and horrible, she still raised him for the last 11 years. Emma was his mom, but calling her Regina wasn’t right.
Henry was not the type of kid to take a problem lying down. If there was something to solve, he acted, he was not a wait and see kind of kid. He didn’t want to be that kid that looked longingly at his former house, knowing that he shouldn’t go in, but wanting to all the same. He knew that he still loved her, he believed that she was helping to get his mother and Grandmother back. She chose him over keeping Cora away, but on the other side of the coin, he had seen her hurt the people that he loved, and that was unforgivable. He sat in a corner booth at Granny’s, nursing a hot chocolate with cinnamon. At least now he knows where that came from. He didn’t know what he was going to do or what the solution was, but the way he looked at it, everyone deserved the benefit of the doubt, even the Evil Queen, besides he still had Emma as support until he figured Regina out.
